2017 Program
The Fisher Memorial Program was held on April 7, 2017, at the Spring Meeting of the ABA Business Law Section in New Orleans, LA.
The topic was “Too Much or Too Little, is the CFBP Exercising its Enforcement Power with Appropriate Restraint?”
The program addressed issues regarding the CFPB’s approach to administrative enforcement, with a focus on whether its enforcement actions are sufficient or too great, and whether it is engaged in rulemaking through enforcement. The program also addressed political changes and the likely effect on the CFPB including structural characteristics of the Bureau, i.e., single director replaceable only for cause, and whether that has contributed to the direction of the agency.
